Review: Simplehuman Sensor Mirror

Simplehuman Sensor Mirror, turned off.

Hey Beauty Queens and Kings! Today's review is one that I've been looking forward to doing for quite sometime; today I'll be reviewing the full size Simplehuman Sensor Mirror. It retails for $200 and is available to purchase from Sephora and Amazon.

According to Simplehuman the mirror provides 5x magnification with optimum brightness and color for exceptional detail while allowing you to see your whole face. The mirror automatically lights up as your face approaches so you never have to hit a button.

Close up of mirror, with light on

So I'm just going to list the pro's and con's of the mirror and whether or not its worth the hefty price tag.

Pro's:

  • The mirror is cordless, and it takes up less space on my vanity.
  • When fully charged, the mirror's battery can last up to a week. And it only needs, for me, about a day to be fully charged.
  • The mirror height is adjustable, so I can set it to a comfortable height when I do my makeup.
  • I can see my whole face clearly in the mirror and the lighting provided is extremely close to natural sunlight, so I can see the colors I'm using accurately and correctly.
  • I love the sensor and not having to turn the mirror off and on, it feels very cool and tech savvy to approach a mirror and it just turns on!

mirror also tilts up

Con's:

  • The sensor can be finicky if you stay still too long; for instance if you're precisely filling in your brows, the sensor can turn the mirror off if it senses no movement. All you have to do is move a tiny bit for it to come back on so its not that bad, but can be annoying.
  • The mirror is at a constant 5x magnification; if you want to use it at a lower magnification thats not possible. But up close you see yourself very well.
  • The cost lol. The technology is amazing and Im not sure if there is anything else out on the market to compare this to price and performance wise; $200 spent a mirror is going to burn a little tear down the cheek of the most dedicated budgeting beauty junkie, who could think of all the makeup they could be buying for $200.

Mirror charges by USB (not the one pictured), the green indicates fully charged or turning on, red (not pictured) depicts charging or battery dying

I honestly love this mirror and can't imagine applying makeup without it.  What made me the most happy was knowing that I could actually travel with this mirror. Not that it's recommended but I hate having to do my makeup without it that much,  and I can adjust it to its most smallest size and bring it on my over night trips or travels. (Again this is of my own accord, this is NOT a selling point of the product, so I am not liable if you try and your mirror gets busted. Sorry hun!)

Do I recommend the mirror? Yes, if you want a mirror that has brilliant lighting, gives your vanity more space, can turn itself off and on, and have the $200 to spare. No, if you don't have the $200 to spare and have a reasonably priced light up mirror that has good lighting.

So what do you think? Are you wanting to try this product? Have you seen similar products on the market? Is it worth the $200 price tag? Let me know in the comments below and have a beautiful night you beauty queens and kings!

Review: SauceBox Batalash Palette

Saucebox Batalash Palette
Today's review is going to be about one of the hottest palette's of the year and that's the limited edition SauceBox Batalash Palette. This palette is going fast and rightfully so. The color's are brilliant pigmented and extremely large in size. Though some have complained about the $60 price tag, the amount of product you received (4 grams an eyeshadow) more than offset's the price considering each shade is $7.50 and the average MAC eyeshadow is now $16 for 1.5 grams. Again this palette is a steal.

Back of the box with product info
The palette was created in collaboration with the SauceBox company and the Batalash girls; Batalash consists of three makeup artist Samantha, Angela, and Dominique. They are all amazingly talented and very popular. With such a great collaboration they've created a beautiful palette that consists of 4 universal matte shades and 4 pearl finish shades. As of today (July  6 ) SauceBox reported that they only have 500 palette's left so I recommend grabbing one. Also there is currently a special going on to get 10% off,  the code is 10BUX , so please take advantage of that. The link to the palette is here.

What the inside of the palette looks like

Colors from left to right, top row to bottom row; Vanilla, Winter Brown, Cinnamon, Lace Noir, Enigma, Electro, Popper, and Nova.
The shades in the palette are Vanilla (a light cream matte), Winter Brown ( a light beige matte), Cinnamon (a rusty deep orange red matte), Lace Noir ( an off black matte), Enigma ( a shimmery orange copper pearl), Electro ( a shimmery canary yellow pearl), Popper ( a light blue pearl), and Nova ( a purple magenta pearl). The matte shades in the palette were extremely creamy and clung to the skin without the use of a primer, the pearl shades have a gorgeous luster about them that is pigmented and glowing. The swatches below were from one swipe on the pan and one swipe to the skin. They go on like butter! Popper did need another swipe to look close to the shade in the palette but that was barely a problem. My favorite shades from the palette are Engima, Nova and Cinnamon. This is one of my most favorite palette's of the year and very people of color friendly.

Colors swatched left from right, Vanilla, Winter Brown, Cinnamon, Lace Noir, Enigma, Electro, Popper, and Nova
So again please check out the link above and grab the palette while it's still available because after it goes out of stock they will not be bringing this palette back; and don't forget to take advantage of the promo code. This is my first purchase from SauceBox and I am very pleased and will be looking into buying more from the company. Below is a look I did with the palette, with details in the caption.

Mix of Vanilla and Winter Brown on my brow bone, Cinnamon throughout the crease, Lace Noir in the outer crease, Enigma on the lid, Enigma blown out on lower lash line with Nova ontop

So have you guys got a chance to try the palette? Thinking about buying? Tried any other SauceBox products? Please let me know in the comment's below!

Sweet Treats: MAC Baking Beauties Collection

Hey All!
I am pretty mixed regarding the MAC Baking Beauties Collection. There are many things I love and many things that could DEFINITELY improve. MAC is capable of producing some pretty impressive products; at the same time they are guilty of the exact opposite. From the collection I purchased:

Pure Decoration Lipstick

Raspberry Swirl Lipstick

Lavender Whip Lipstick

Devil’s Food Lipstick

Mooncake Pro Longwear Paint Pot

Éclair Pro Longwear Paint Pot

Reflects Transparent Teal Glitter

I am very happy with the paint pots and the teal glitter, not so much with the lipsticks. I’ve reviewed each product individually so if you click the product above, it will take you to the review. If you have full lips and want to remotely even make any of the lipsticks work I advise you to lip line your lips so it’s less likely that the product will settle into lip lines. Did you get a chance to purchase any items from this collection? How are products working for you? How did you feel about this collection?

MAC's Veronica Lipstick in Daddy's Little Girl

Close up of Daddy's Little Girl in tube

This shade is too fun and sassy. I'd rock this shade behind a huge pair of black sunglasses, candy cigarette in hand. You get the picture. Its sexy and fun, a gorgeous pop of color for all skin tones. Every girl should have a fun shade of lipstick in her arsenal.

Swatch of Daddy's Little Girl

Daddy's Little girl is described as a mid tone pink violet with a satin finish. It;s pigmented and applies true to the swatch I took. I give this lipstick an A for go out and buy.

This lipstick is on sale for $16.50 and will be available again at maccosmetics.com. Will you add this to your collection?

MAC's Betty Lipstick in Oh,Oh,Oh

Closeup of Oh, Oh, Oh

Swatch of Oh, Oh, Oh

Impressive, high impact, yet simple. Oh, Oh, Oh is described as a sheer brown plum lipstick with a lustre finish. I would consider this another "come hither shade" its the perfect shade for a sexy classy look. I really like the lipstick, but my only con is that the lipstick felt a tad bit dry going on. So make sure your looks are fully hydrated before applying.

I loved the lipstick on my lips and though its not my favorite from the Archie collection, im glad to have it in my collection.
I'd give this lipstick an A-. Love the coverage and color but the application shouldn't be so rough initially.

This lipstick is on sale for $16.50 and will be available again at maccosmetics.com. What do you think?

MAC's Betty Lipstick Betty Bright

This shade and I will be attached at the hip probably all summer.

Close up of Betty Bright

Swatch of Betty Bright
Betty Bright is described as a light vibrant peach, on my skin tone it comes off as a light peachy pink, and has a satin finish. It’s definitely a necessity for the sweet otaku vixens. I’m a sweet vixen, so yes they do exist. This is a lipstick that with the right eye makeup, would work for every girl.

I found the lipstick went on smoothly and was very pigmented. Though the lipstick does go into fine lines, just make sure your smoochers are smooth and hydrated before applying. All in all I really love this lip color and this lip forumla. It makes my lips appear more plump and I truly love that in a lipstick. I give this lipstick a B+.

This lipstick is on sale for $16.50 and will be available again at maccosmetics.com. I'm curious to see what this shade looks like on you guise.
