Review: Art of Makeup Ten-Piece Brush Set

Sonia Kashuk Art of Makeup Ten-Piece Brush Set

Please run to your nearest Target and pick up these amazing brushes.

My first impression of the Sonia Kashuk Art of Makeup Ten-Piece Brush Set is that they’re a make up collectors dream. Gwarl!!! These brushes look beautiful and at the price point of $35.99 for 10 beautiful brushes, they’re a steal. With this limited edition set, Sonia pays homage to artist Linda Mason.

The brushes are beautiful and unique and the quality of the brushes for the price is well worth it.  The bristles of the brushes are hot pink with burnt orange tips; Trimmed in gold end caps with the SK (Sonia Kashuk) initials on the bottom, the handle of the brush is adorned with a beautiful multi color pattern.

If you want something that looks sophisticated and edgy these are it (not to mention that there are brush cups, makeup bags and more to match). Also, another big plus, the brushes are 100% cruelty free.

The brushes are lightweight and very comfortable to handle. The design overlay is somewhat laminated on so there is no risk of the beautiful design peeling off. The golden caps are very sturdy and fitted perfectly

The powder brush bristles are natural goat hair and very dense.  The brush is great for picking up and applying powders and buffing out liquid foundations.

The blush brush is made of natural goat hair and is tapered and dense. The tapered point is distinct enough to for a great blush application and with a bit more pressure can be used to buff bronzer around the edges of the face. This is one of my favorite brushes from the set.

The pointed foundation brush is made of a nylon mix and is very dense. When it comes to pointed or tapered synthetic bristles my first concern is the discomfort that comes from apply too much or too little pressure that causes the bristles to poke the face. Luckily with this brush that was not a problem, I used all sorts of pressure and the application was smooth and perfect. This brush is perfect for applying liquid foundation and cream contour.  This brush is a favorite.

The dense powder/blush brush is made of natural goat hair. Quite honestly I can’t think of any reason to apply regular/foundation powder with this brush, tt is too short and too dense. As for blush, maybe if you have a blush that you have to really work at to get some product out. I honestly imagine these brushes would be better at blending out cream highlights or bronzers. I don’t think this brush will be used very much.

The medium eye shadow brush is made of natural goat hair. I love this little brush; it picks up product very well and is amazing about blending out eye shadow. It’s dense and just the right size for applying product to the lid.

The pointed blending brush is made of natural goat hair. The brush is a perfect mix of nearly dense but flexible enough to work product throughout the crease or just blending. I really love this crease brush and the way it picks up product.

The concealer brush is a nylon mix.  This concealer brush is incredibly smooth which is crucial for perfect concealer placement. I also think this brush will be amazing when it comes to picking up and apply cream shadows to the lid.

Limited Edition Sonia Kashuk Brush Cup

The crease shadow brush is a pony hair and synthetic mix. The brush was wonderfully soft and very dense, a perfect recipe for picking up and blending powders. This is the perfect brush for buffing out color.

The angled eye shadow brush is goat hair. This brush is a tiny bit dense but very perfectly cut for any precise line work.

The smudge brush is pony hair. This is a great brush for smudging out thick eyeliner but please use with a light hand. The bristles were a tad bit prickly and rough.

All-in-all for the cost of $35.99 you get an amazingly beautiful great quality set of brushes. Sonia Kashuk brushes have a great shelf life and I can tell that these brushes were put together with love from inception to the shelf. I would definitely recommend. Otaku Beauty Wish List Vol.2

Hey Beauties!! I thought I would start out my day with some wishful thinking and that brought about my Lipstick Otaku Wishlist Vol.2. There are so many amazing products out there and these are just a few that I am completely swooning over.

Touch In Sol Feel Like Honey Moon Skin Base
First there's the Touch In Sol Feel Like Honey Moon Skin Base, costing $24.00 and available online at Sephora.com. Sephora has been reaching out to Korea and bringing some amazing skin care products from across the pond. Touch In Sol is one of the new Korean brands now being offered on Sephora.com. The Feel Like Honey Skin Base is a honey collagen-based rejuvenating skin primer that supports smoother skin for flawless makeup application.I love trying new primers and haven't found my holy grail primer yet. It looks like something that foundation could really adhere to. Not to mention the packaging is so freaking adorable.

Besame Cosmetics Boudoir Long Hair Finishing Powder Brush

Next, Besame Cosmetics Boudoir Long Hair Finishing Powder Brush. It cost $50 and is available at Sephora.com. When I saw this brush I gagged, its gorgeous and vintage and so very strange looking. Which usually equals something that I want to own. The brush is a collectible with long bristles for creating a near-flawless, airbrushed finish. The design of the brush is based off of brushes used by makeup artist in the 1930's. The brush does look pretty intimidating but its very dense and looks oh so soft, I would love to apply powder with this brush and feel very fancy and very vintage.

Erborian Creme Scrub Beautifying Exfoliating Pearls
So I found out about the Erborian brand via Sephora's You Tube and I feel in love with the concept of Paris meets Korean skincare. After looking over the products on the website I wanted to buy ALL the things. The next five products are all from Erborian. First, the Creme Scrub Beautifying Exfoliating Pearls, costing $28 on the website. This is a gentle cleaners with seven complex Korean herbs and micro-pearls that exfoliate. I have combination skin and often there is lots of dry and oily dead skin cells on my face, because of this I adore a good exfoliator and I can't wait to try this.
Erborian Bamboo Waterlock Mask
The Erborian Bamboo Waterlock Mask is $43 and is a refreshing aquagel mask enriched with a unique complex of bamboo sap and fibers. I love love love face mask, I love removing the impurities from my skin and watching my skin glow, and though expensive really want to try it. The mask can be used two ways; as a rinse-off hydro-plumping mask or as a moisturizing leave-on treatment. This sold me and is at the top of my to purchase list. This available on Sephora's website.
Erborian Pate au Ginseng Black Concentrated Mask
The Erborian Pate au Ginseng Black Concentrated Mask is $61 and the priciest item offered from Erborian on the Sephora website. The packaging and the appearance of the product is very raw and incredible (photo will be added). This mask is a syrup-like black mask enriched with six-year old red ginseng to help fight visible signs of aging. I definitely want to add more anti-aging skin care items to my regime and would love to start with this product.
Erborian Perfect Morning BB Mask
I have gone mask crazy. The trend of mask is really huge in Korea and from what I read the benefits are worth it. I have purchased a couple of mask ,that I will be reviewing soon, and can't wait to try this companies formula. The Erborian Perfect Morning BB Mask cost $32 and comes with 8 packets ($4 a packet) . It is a three-in-one green tea powder mask that tightens pores, cleanses the skin and creates a radiant looking glow. Now this mask is really interesting because it incorporates powder. This isn't a mask that you take out of the package and lay on top of your face. With this you are pouring the powder in your hands, adding water and applying on your face. I would love to experience the possible benefits. So really excited to snag and review soon.Click here to check out the product.
Erborian Solid Cleansing Oil
The final product is the Erborian Solid Cleansing Oil which cost $39 and is available on Sephora's website. The transforming balm cleanser enriched with seven Korean herbs to whisk away impurities. I have never tried a balm cleanser and think that this would be a very gentle approach to cleansing the skin of dirt and makeup.

Well those are all my skin care wish list items. I really do hope to do a video and post for you guys soon regarding my current skin care regimen. Skin care is so very important and crucial for the makeup lover. All good makeup starts with a good base.

So what products are you loveys' currently wishing for? What's your current beauty regime and do you have any holy grail skin care items that you recommend? Let me know and have a beautiful day.
